Today CA published the whitepaper “CA and Microsoft Support for User-Centric Identity and the Identity Metasystem†in which they describe their shared vision with Microsoft to build the Identity Metasystem. In particular, the whitepaper describes CA’s plans to enable SiteMinder customers to authenticate to resources protected by SiteMinder using Information Cards and to enable claims to be delivered to applications. Read Jeff Broberg’s introduction to the paper and the whitepaper itself.
This is a fantastic development for the Identity Metasystem, as SiteMinder is a key component of the identity infrastructure for numerous businesses large and small across heterogeneous platforms, including some of the largest consumer web sites. I can’t wait to see the valuable and creative uses of Information Cards that will result from CA’s commitment to the Metasystem.

That’s good news. If TFIM (Tivoli Federation) will follow suit that’d surely be the tipping point.
