{"id":2211,"date":"2021-11-24T12:02:51","date_gmt":"2021-11-24T20:02:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/self-issued.info\/?p=2211"},"modified":"2021-11-24T12:02:51","modified_gmt":"2021-11-24T20:02:51","slug":"jwk-thumbprint-uri-specification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/self-issued.info\/?p=2211","title":{"rendered":"JWK Thumbprint URI Specification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"plain\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"right\" src=\"https:\/\/self-issued.info\/images\/ietf-logo.png\" alt=\"IETF logo\"><\/span>The JSON Web Key (JWK) Thumbprint specification [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rfc-editor.org\/rfc\/rfc7638.html\">RFC 7638<\/a>] defines a method for computing a hash value over a JSON Web Key (JWK) [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rfc-editor.org\/rfc\/rfc7517.html\">RFC 7517<\/a>] and encoding that hash in a URL-safe manner.  <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kristinayasuda\">Kristina Yasuda<\/a> and I have just created the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ietf.org\/archive\/id\/draft-jones-oauth-jwk-thumbprint-uri-00.html\">JWK Thumbprint URI<\/a> specification, which defines how to represent JWK Thumbprints as URIs.  This enables JWK Thumbprints to be communicated in contexts requiring URIs, including in specific JSON Web Token (JWT) [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rfc-editor.org\/rfc\/rfc7519.html\">RFC 7519<\/a>] claims.<\/p>\n<p>Use cases for this specification were developed in the <a href=\"https:\/\/openid.net\/wg\/connect\/\">OpenID Connect Working Group<\/a> of the OpenID Foundation.
